I have had a psychic feeling that to contribute monthly to Mr Rupert Murdochs media empire is morally wrong. This feeling shows a thought balloon above his head with the words democracy- I believe in it so long as I can pick the politicians who are in my favour. Most newspapers do have a political bias but by reading several, a balanced view can be obtained. Television punches visually into everybodys home and we suppose and hope that all the news programmes are unbiased and balanced in their content. If a reporter gives coverage to an event or person in the public domain then it would be appropriate to give air to the opposing factions. For many years, I have fought off the special offers and inducements to join Sky T.V. I have had a psychic feeling that to contribute monthly to Mr Rupert Murdochs media empire is morally wrong. This feeling shows a thought balloon above his head with the words democracy- I believe in it so long as I can pick the politicians who are in my favour. After watching a T.V programme Outfoxed the other evening on my preview box about American Fox news, part of Richards media holdings, I began to see why. A parade of ex-staff told of the memos that were received telling and guiding them totally in favour of George Bush and his policies. On Presidential candidates, the American public were told repeatedly that this was the channel of unbiased reporting. In reality, it was all one-way traffic against Kerry and creating a climate of fear over terrorism. Outfoxed was a programme that tried to balance these views, thank God for democracy and free thought. However, it came rather late after the damage of early biased reporting over several years. I shall be watching Sky news on my monthly free preview box with a more critical eye. I would be interested to know Rupert, if any of your memos are on the loose in this country, the UK. After all, it would be essential for us Brits to know who you would prefer to be in power over here. You are a God of the media, a dictator without a sword, but armed with a mighty pen. Are the public here to be guided by you in all political matters so they will be swayed by totally biased comment and news, and to hell with democracy. Democracy is really the only way to live, because there is nothing better, but it breeds men with tremendous power who can impose their will upon others. Morally, ALL news programmes should be unbiased so the public can draw their own conclusions. I hope that our Members of Parliament are keeping a close watch on this great media empire as much as they do on the BBC. Public brainwashing though not illegal is the tool of the dictator. It sways minds and hearts with a dangerous bias against free thought. Keep an eye on the news, draw your own conclusions, and if you personally think it is unfair or biased, then ring or email the station. Let them know clearly. |
