Illegal Immigration Trends in 2006

In 2005 we saw that illegal immigration and the debate on illegal aliens climbed to a record of media stories. Everything from the vigilante Minute Men group to the deaths of illegal aliens from crossing the hot desert or being stuck in the back of an abandoned tractor trailer unit. In the last election many politicians tried to give the topic a half ass effort or attempt to avoid it all together, yet today we still have issues and if we are to protect the American People, then we must not avoid this issue any longer.

Many groups such as the ACLU are claiming that the illegal border crossers are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. They further point out that if there were no jobs here for them, they would not come at all. Indeed all good points, yet in this day and age of insurgents and International Terrorism it is foolish to allow illegal crossing of our borders when we have no idea who is coming over here.

In 2006 expect more surveillance from aerial drones or UAVs. Expect the political debate to mount as we near the mid-term elections and of course along with this watch our oh so noble politicians play the blame game and take no responsibility for their current leadership in this matter or in their future votes either way. Expect strong opposition to illegal immigration from Union Workers and the Democrat leadership to oblige by voting for fences and enforcement.

Expect war hawk Republics to also be on the side of controlled borders. You can also expect some ultra liberals to break ranks and side with the illegal aliens to their political peril as they become political casualties of the debate. Expect the Libertarian Party to move to the center on this issue as well. This will be an interesting political year and an interesting national debate on illegal immigration and securing of our borders. Think on this in 2006.
