Damascus, Syria Not Serious About Peace

In watching the peace process begin and a possible cease-fire being discussed from the United Nations the News Media seems to think this is just not going to happen. When we watch interviews on CNN with people like Bouthiana Shaaban, the Syrian Cabinet Minister all we see is denial that Hezbollah is an International Terrorist Organization and she compares Israel to Nazi Germany and is happy with the Hezbollah Action. She goes on to condemn Condoleezza Rice with the most damaging critique and thus how can we have a cease-fire or peace when all sides seem to be full of such hatred?

Is the Hezbollah Israeli war in Lebanon simply going to continue and the best man win? It seems so. Hezbollah of course is severely out numbered and is sure to be defeated without re-enforcements and they need a cease-fire simply to allow them to get more weapons, food, fuel and more suicide fighters to join in; something obviously is not in the best interests of Israel and therefore a cease-fire is highly unlikely although there very well could be something developing as Condoleezza Rice does her diplomatic magic.

The peace process must include Syria and therefore it seems that Rice has her work cut out for her. Meanwhile Lebanon is continuing to lose their civilization as each day moves on. Some say that Lebanon has already lost since it let Hezbollah come in and run things over the last decade. Either way if Syria stands in the way of peace, then the foretold future could come to pass right now in the present period. Consider all this in 2006.
