Whilst there are many ways to build long term traffic to your site, there are just a handful to create instant traffic within hours.

These seven quick traffic building tips should be used sparingly but will be ideal for when you have something you particularly with to publicise or get visitors to:-

1. Submit an article to the Article Directories (or if short of time, just to www.ezinearticles.com) or change the links on existing articles to point to your new site, page or article. Make sure the title has your keywords in it and is intriguing or attractive!
2. Send out an email or Newsletter to your list this gets them visiting your site and theyll probably look around a little at other pages too. If you havent got a list, just think of all those one-time visitors to your site who have already expressed interest in your specialised content offer them an opportunity to sign up to your Newsletter or regular updates.
3. Run an Adwords or Yahoo campaign this will cost money, so be sure to consider whether this will be cost effective or not. If you are launching a new affiliate program, chances are that it will be worthwhile, if you just want to see some traffic to your site youll have to work hard to make it cover costs.
4. Add a comment on a forum ensuring that your signature file points to a recent blog post or an interesting article. You can get quite a few visitors this way if its a popular and relevant forum.
5. Add an About Us link to your existing sites & pages. If you havent already, ensure that your websites and blogs all have relevant and up-to-date information about you.
6. Add to your blog. Ensure your blog is set up to ping the search engines each time you update. Write something relevant, keyword-based on your blog and submit to Pingomatic.
7. Write & submit a controversial press release - a recent article entitled The surprising truth about ugly websites attracted a storm of publicity within 24 hours.

There are literally dozens of long term ways that you can increase the popularity of your website, but these "instant" wonders are some of the best options for getting quick traffic to your site.
