What Really Is a Blog?

A blog is a short word for web log. Basically a weblog is an online diary where people like to keep their thoughts on different things.Blogs are like any other websites out there, but the only difference is that their approach is more personal, and they are updated frequently. Of course, news sites are updated frequently too, but they arent personal. A blog involves some feelings not only facts.

A blog contains posts and comments. The posts are the ones written by the owner/editors of the blog, and the comments are written by visitors and they refer to the content of the post.

A post is based on thoughts, comments on different things, rhethoric ideas and philosophies. What you should really know about blogs, is that a blog is more personal than an article written by someone.

A blog transforms the owner into a writer, and anyone can do it. People who write blogs, are often called bloggers.

There are 12 years old kids doing blogs online, and also, we have 70 years old bloggers. Theres nothing wrong with blogging, just write and let it flow.

Of course, a blogs intention is to be available online, and we suppose that most of the blogs are written to be read by other people.

Even if a blog is available for everyones reading pleasure, few bloggers are writing anonymous content. Usually people sign using an username (nickname) or their real name but the concept is to have your reader feeling something about the thoughts you share.

A post may express happiness, frustration, dissapointment, success, humour or any other feeling that a human being is able to understand, otherwise, we would call them reports.

The best part about blogs is that they are very easy to manage. You can write a post in seconds without worring about the layout of your page or any programming skills.

You can easily download a blogging software and put your diary online. Its just a matter of seconds and motivation. In order to start a blog, you will need:

- a domain name (it can be aquired from domain name oriented companies, or you can have one for free)

- a hosting server (a computer which is always turned on, and it is connected to the internet permanently)

- the blogging application (this is the most important part of your adventure).

Now, if you look on that list, you will see its kind of difficult to find all this information.

Thats why people came up with a solution: you can get all these 3 basic requirements from a single place, without having to worry about hosting, domain names, programming skills or applications.

Most of the services are free, and you can setup your blog in a matter of seconds. Some popular free blogging services are: Blogger, Wordpress, Yahoo. You must register and youre ready to go!

Blogging is a new way of making friends, knowing people with the same passions as yours and also, getting to know everyone whos interested in the same topics as you are.

To track the order of your posts, most of the blogs are organising the information on categories and chronological order. Thats a good way to have your content easy to browse.

Also, a blog may contain links refering to other posts inside the same blog, or linking to other blogs or off-site pages.

There are lots of types of blogs, and each one has its own needs:

- general blogs (typical kind of blog, where people just write and add pictures)

- image blogs (also named photoblogs, where people post their pictures)

- video blogs (well known as vlogs - people post video recordings, but the technology still has problems implementing this kind of feature)

- audio blogs (many people call the audio blogging activity as podcasting or simply, audio blogging)

These are the main types of blogs out there and probably the technology will bring us more surprises for the future.

By browsing this website, you will be able to understand the different things and facts about blogging. We have the strong belief that our readers will always get the fun part about having your own blog.

And dont forget always share your blogs address with your friends.
